Anu 43 Sixth St San Francisco, CA 94103 (415) 543-3505
Club/Bar
This tiny piece of real estate is bathed in a warm palette--burgundy, brown, orange--and boasts great social feng shui: a long, super-soft bench is paired with ottomans and cocktail tables to encourage chats with the 20-something hipsters. The lit-up bar is housed under adobe stucco arches, but stained-glass hanging lamps give the hacienda aesthetic an artistic edge. Past the bar, a bullet-chain curtain separates the loungers from the boogiers, who move face-to-face with the DJ on a tiny 10-person dance floor |

Bambuddha Lounge 601 Eddy St San Francisco, CA 94109 415 885 5088
Club/Bar
Leave the gritty Tenderloin surroundings behind and enter a sultry South Pacific paradise with a modern edge of sophistication. In the off-white dining area, designer chairs, cushioned benches and cube-shaped stools surround sleek, cherry-wood tables. In the soft-lit cocktail lounge, DJs supply beats as young city dwellers hobnob around the circular bar, which is frequently crammed to capacity. This isn't a dance club, but patrons don their most fashion-forward outfits as they lounge around the outside pool, flanked by bed-like cabanas, bamboo stalks and heating lamps. |

DNA Lounge 375 11th St San Francisco, CA 94103-4313 415-626-1409
Club/Bar
Complimentary Internet kiosks are peppered throughout this two-tiered space, but the main attraction is a central dance floor. Sandwiched between an elevated stage and back bar, the roomy floor gets bathed in lights and packed with an ever-changing crowd--dictated by the night's entertainment, which can range from world-famous DJs to Incredibly Strange Wrestling. Stairs on either side of the stage wind toward the upper level, with ceilings featuring exposed pipes and heating ducts. During popular events, the upstairs back area opens up, providing an additional bar and vinyl-booth seating |

Pink 2925 16th St San Francisco, CA 94103 (415) 431-8889
Club/Bar
This intimate spot is cloaked in a cacophony of saccharine hues, from fuchsia walls adorned with glittery graffiti to rosy toilet seats. Candle-filled wall sconces bathe the space in dancing light that seems to give flight to white butterflies decorating mirrors and walls. Wispy fabrics hang from the ceiling and break up the long, white vinyl bench seating, while a metallic-silver bar and DJ booth balance the kitsch |
